LOVING PEOPLE.

LOVING PEOPLE.

Podbean.jpg

At My City Church we have a simple theme we live by. We want to LOVE GOD, LOVE PEOPLE, and LEAD IN LIFE. Today, I want to focus in on LOVING PEOPLE. Let’s look at where this topic comes up in the Bible.

Matthew 22:36-40 (NKJV)
“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”  Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

We are called to love our neighbor as ourselves. There is no greater way to show love to our neighbor than to introduce them to Jesus and His grace. This is the most important thing that we can do in life. In order to do this it will take the following:

SEE THE NEED

In order to make a difference we have to see the need. There are people all around us that are going through hard times. The world is in need of HOPE. There is no one that provides HOPE like Jesus. You would be surprised how open people are to Jesus when we share Him authentically with love and grace.

MAKE THE EFFORT

Reaching out to people takes effort. It requires us to get out of our comfort zone. Inviting people to church is a simple way to make the effort, but we have to be intentional about it. So here is the question: Who are you making the effort with today?

REMEMBER THE SOURCE

We cannot save anyone, only Jesus can do that. We are simply the invitation. When we do our part Jesus will do His. So take the pressure off and simply reach out to someone with an invitation and then follow-up with it. It make take several times, but keep making the effort.

At My City Church we want to be focused on reaching those that are far away from God. This requires us to see the great need in our city, make the effort, and watch Jesus change people’s lives. Let’s be a people that that love our neighbors be simply extended an invitation to something that could change their lives.

Second Team Gathering - Recap

Second Team Gathering - Recap

My City Church is so excited to be integrating a new Core Values series into our Team Nights. Last Sunday we started off with one of our core values: UNITED IN JESUS. We are also really pumped about our next set of Crews that are meeting up next week, March 14th to 18th! We have already outgrown our spaces and have launched 2 new crews! Along with Team Nights and Crews we are announcing a PRAYER NIGHT that will be held on Wednesday, March 22 at 7PM at the Thompson Center at UNO.

UNITED IN JESUS is the first core value of My City Church that we were able to share about with 165 others attending our last Team Night! We believe that we are united under no other name, but the name of Jesus. More than any method or personal preference, we are focused on Jesus and His message. Our passion is to love and serve Omaha in a creative and fresh way by using our individual talents and unique strengths, but all with the same purpose and same heart!

CREWS are off to an awesome start, we started with 3 Crews and are now spreading further across Omaha with 2 more! Crews are all about sharing our lives together over dinner and having conversations about the role that faith plays in our life. We get to meet new friends and love each other hard! We’re all inclusive and would love to keep launching more Crews, so sign up by clicking the link and check one out! SIGN UP HERE

PRAYER is one of the most vital foundations of who we are at My City Church. We love to spend our time together encountering Jesus in a personal way. My City Church believes in the power of prayer in such a way that we can ask Him to do big and impactful things and know that He hears and will answer our prayers because He has already called us to live on mission in Omaha with the specific purpose to lift up Jesus and empower leaders in all spheres of life. Make sure to check out our next Prayer Night on March 22, at 7PM at the UNO Thompson Center.

The Church I See

Church is a place where worship is lifted up and people's lives are changed. At My City Church we have a clear vision of what we are building. I see a church rising up in Omaha, NE for God's glory. I want to share with you what I see that church looking like.

THE CHURCH I SEE

The Church that I see is: a Church full of life; a Church that is committed to fulfilling the Great Commission by living out the Great Commandment; a Church that is committed to Loving God, Loving People, and Leading in Life.

I see a Church that influences cities toward Christ; a Church so large in size that it changes the spirit of the city and captivates the attention of its people.

I see a Church where people who are far away from God are engaged with the love of Christ; a Church where salvation is preached and hearts are turned back to a loving Savior; a Church that is known for its compassion and grace-filled message of redemption.

I see a Church that is united in Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit; a Church that moves in power and carries light to the darkest places of the city; a Church that is committed to see a revival spirit break out and transform culture.

I see a Church so inclusive in nature that people from all walks of life find a place they call home; a Church that welcomes the broken with love, compassion, and hope; a Church where people belong even before they believe.

I see a Church that pushes the boundaries of what has been done before; a Church that uses every available technology to disciple and proclaim the message of Jesus Christ.

I see a Church that is committed to the empowerment of leaders; a Church that is on the move planting, building, and developing the local church; a Church where the God given potential of each person is realized and released for Kingdom purposes.

I see a Church that is united in Jesus, inclusive in nature, faith-filled in confession, passionate in expression, generous in action, excellent in spirit, and leads in every sphere of life.

Yes, the Church that I see could well be our church - My City Church.
