Small groups, life groups, connect groups – whatever you wanna call them, My City GROUPS are starting up again very soon for SZN 1 2022! For those of you who are newer to our church, you may be intimidated by the 50+ groups we offer…but don’t worry! This guide will prepare you for everything you need to know so you can go into SZN 2 with clarity, confidence, and excitement! Now, let’s answer some of your questions:

1. What are Groups?

Groups are small gatherings of 10-15 people who meet in person to hang, discuss a recent Sunday message, and pray together. We have groups that meet in restaurants, in couples’ homes, and even at the gym! We have men's groups, women's groups, couples groups, and groups for our youth students. 2. Why should I join a Group?

We truly believe that you are not meant to live this life alone. None of us are – especially those of us who are trying to live God-honoring lives! We need community. It’s not a luxury – it’s a necessity. When life gets tough, who do you go to? When you are at your lowest, you need Godly men/women in your corner ready to encourage you, pray for you, and contend for you. Groups are a place to belong and to bring our friends! It’s a place where we can be honest, vulnerable, and unashamed of where we’ve been or where we are because we’ve all been there. Groups help you grow in freedom so you can live the victorious life Jesus meant for you to live!

3. What should I expect when I go to a Group?

We have lots of different types of Groups, but most Groups tend to use a Group Outline created by our Group coaches based off of the Sunday message from that week! These outlines include upcoming events, review of the sermon’s main points and scriptures, and guiding questions for discussion. Most importantly, every gathering ends with prayer – praying for each other’s needs and encouraging one another in the faith. You can expect laughter, fun, good food (or a great workout!), and a refreshed spirit as you leave. If you have any questions about where to meet, where to park, etc., feel free to reach out to your leader at any time! They will be excited to hear from you and will make you feel right at home!

4. But I don’t know anyone…how do I choose a Group?

If you’ve gone through all of the Groups and you’re still not sure, the best place to go would be to NEXT class! In Step 2, we have Group coaches you can talk to, and they will get you directly connected to the right Group leaders based on your time preferences, personality, and stage of life. 5. I’m still not sure…*insert excuse here*

I know you may still be feeling a little hesitant about joining a Group…but trust me when I say that it will be one of the best decisions you could ever make as you go through this life of following Jesus. Take the leap! It is worth your time because you’re not just investing your time in creating friendships – you’re investing your time in strengthening your own spiritual health! Let us be like the early Christian believers in Acts 2:42 – “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.” This is what community is all about! Let’s go into this next season full of faith knowing that the best is yet to come!
