When you say "I am not," God says, "I AM."
"Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him" Luke 24:13-16
This Sunday, Pastor Eli Nelson gave an incredible message out of Luke 24, when Jesus walked the road to Emmaus with two strangers.
This particular day was the day Jesus had been raised from the dead, and the two strangers were discussing the events of Jesus’ life, and how they were discouraged by his death. Their hopes had been let down, for they wanted Jesus to be the one to redeem Israel. Jesus walked alongside them and listened to their disappointment. Even after they were done talking, he remained with them, speaking the truth of God’s goodness and promise, and even ended up staying the night with them.
Along with wise insight and encouragement, Pastor Eli highlighted the importance of who God is: a God who is always with you and always for you.
When you say, “I am not”, God says back to you, “I am." Ps. Eli Nelson
Are you feeling discouraged? Do you feel as though your expectations have been let down? Do you feel lonely? God is with you right now. Regardless of what road you are on right now, He is your rock, your comforter and your provider.
He is everything you will ever need in this life. His promise is sure, and His goodness is unfailing.
"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (NIV)
