Come and see...
This Sunday evening we all gathered and celebrated the Christmas season and the birth of our Savior. Pastor Eli shared an insightful word about the signs God places in front of us and encouraged us to open our eyes to see and respond.
“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:8-12 (NIV)
We examined a few groups of people who were searching for Jesus at the time of His birth: the shepherds, the wise men, King Herod, the scribes, and the Pharisees. Each had different approaches and responses, and from these stories, we learn one clear truth:
It is not about what you can bring to Jesus, it is about your response to His call: “come and see.”
Are you on the lookout for a sign from God today? Are you willing to respond to His call?
We here at My City Church pray you have a healthy and joyous Christmas!
