Did you know that God is looking for people to use?
“Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.” 8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:5-8 (NIV)
God actually refuses to work here on earth without the involvements of humanity. Think about it, Jesus came through Mary, Moses delivered the people from Egypt, David slew the giant Goliath, and Isaiah agreed to be the mouthpiece of God to a rebellious people (Israel). Isaiah’s response to encountering the presence of the living God was to recognize his sin, which is natural for all of us, but once our sin is covered, we have the choice.
Do we continue to live our own lives? Or do we pick up our cross and be available for God?
My prayer is that we will be a church full of ordinary people available for God to do the extraordinary through. Not many of us are impressive by human standards, but when the power of the Spirit of God flows through us, we can be used for extraordinary purposes. Just look at the disciples. A bunch of young, uneducated people, and God began a movement through them! Now we have the choice as well to be used by God. Available daily. We can take every opportunity, every moment, to be a light for the kingdom of God and to push back the darkness - to rob hell and populate heaven. I carry the conviction that I do not want to get to heaven only to realize that I could have believed for more. I know that God is looking to bring revival to the city of Omaha, and He is looking for people to bring revival through.
Will you be available?
You never know what is on the other side of your availability. But I know, It is something extraordinary! Be available, like Isaiah, and watch how God can do extraordinary things through you! Let’s pray:
Heavenly Father, we thank you for choosing to use us. Thank you for involving us in your redemptive plan for humanity. Help us to not live passive and not engaged with what you are doing here in this city. Begin to break our hearts for what breaks yours. For those who are far from you, to be reunited with you, here we are LORD, saying, “Send us.” We are available for you God, whatever that looks like, may our hearts always say, “We are servants, here to do our duty.” Amen.
