We are the body of Christ
“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all, in all, and living through all.” Ephesians 4:2-6 (NLT)
United under God
The Church is also known as the body of Christ. I am sure that at one point in our lives we have experienced a part of our human body not working in alignment with the rest of our bodies. This causes discomfort, it causes imbalances within our body, and ultimately causes our body to not function to its full potential. The same applies to the body of Christ, the Church.
I encourage you to continue reading Ephesians 4. As we, the body of Christ, continue to unify under God, we will grow and mature in our faith. We will be able to withstand the waves of life and not be fooled by the enemy. We will move from being an immature, infant body to being a mature and strong body which is capable of incredible things! As a united body of believers, we are able to accomplish far more for God and for His kingdom than we could ever do alone.
Let us first be united and filled with the Holy Spirit
Today, I want to encourage us to take time to be united first and foremost with the Holy Spirit. For us to live in harmony with one another, we must first be filled with the Holy Spirit so our lives will be overflowing with the fruit of the Holy Spirit. Let's pray:
Lord, thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit to guide us and help us walk out this new life with you. We ask today for a humbleness and gentleness in all we do. We ask that your love flows through us. Holy Spirit, we ask for a fresh outpouring today. Overflow in our lives and let our lives be a testimony of what it looks like to walk unified with the Holy Spirit. Help us to continue to grow and mature in our faith, not just individually, but as the body of Christ. We stand united under no other name, but the name of Jesus. You are the Lord and Father of all, and we come into alignment with you and your will. Amen.
