Day 19: My City Men

“We are God’s men! We are born to lead! We will live surrendered to God!”

“But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God.” 1 Corinthians 11:3 (NIV)

We were born to lead! I love how in our Men's Prayer confessional we follow that by saying, “We will live surrendered to God!” Funny how the best way to lead is from a place of submission and complete surrender. If we are to live surrendered to God, then we must first and foremost surrender our time. How can we lead without reading His manual (the Bible) which directs our path, reveals endless knowledge, and speaks to us? How can we lead without spending time talking to Him?

As God’s men, are we leading as Christ has called us to? As we lead our households, do our spouses, significant others, or the women in our lives feel cherished? Loved? Safe? Desired? Heard, like their voice matters?

If we are to lead well, then it must be first done in our homes.

How can we lead in the workplace, at church, or in life if we cannot lead our home? How are we leading our children? Do they feel empowered? Heard? Understood? Loved? Sometimes kids go through emotions but can never process them because they don’t have a parental figure willing to walk them through it. Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV) says:

“Train the child in the way he should go, and when he is old he won’t depart from it.”

Let's be men today, willing to put our selfish desires aside to train up the next generation of warriors for the Kingdom! In the Bible, the Lord says the Kingdom of God belongs to these. Let us be present in our children’s lives and see the monumental impact it will make on shaping their future.

Father God, I pray for the men of My City Church. God, I pray that we will lead our homes as you have called us to. God, I speak against any pride, anger, or lust that tries to take ground in the men of My City Church. I pray that you fill us with love, compassion, humility, and patience. God, I pray that we would take ground in our homes, at our workplaces, and in our lives. May us surrender fully to You and let You lead us in all aspects of our lives. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear. In Jesus' mighty name we pray, Amen.
