The Holy Spirit is a gift
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you.” John 16:13-15 (NIV)
In this scripture, Jesus is talking about the Holy Spirit that has now been given to believers as a gift. The Holy Spirit plays many roles in our lives. He is our advocate and brings revelation, conviction, and wisdom to us. However, we must welcome the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives. This requires a daily surrender of our will and submission to God’s perfect will. Galatians 5:24-26 says, “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit."
He is always with us
The Holy Spirit is available and wants to be invited into our simple day to day tasks such as going to work, grocery shopping, and getting coffee with a friend. The Holy Spirit is also available in the “bigger” areas of our life that we need clarity and direction in.
There is always more of the Holy Spirit available to believers.
There will never be a sense of “arrival” while we are here on earth. Today, I encourage you to welcome the Holy Spirit’s leadership and power into every area and detail of your life. As you do this, I believe that He will lead and guide you in 2023 into more than you could ever ask, think, or imagine.
Jesus, we thank you for the gift of your Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth. We thank you that you are readily available to give us this gift. God, we ask for forgiveness for the times that we have put our own wants and desires above you. We surrender our lives to you and we ask that your Holy Spirit would permeate every area of our lives. We pray that you would give us ears to hear your voice clearly and that we would have the conviction to be obedient to what you are leading and guiding us in over this next year. Lord, may you get all of the glory and praise in our lives. We love you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
