Day 3: My City Leadership

There are many scriptures in the Bible that talk about how sacrificial and significant our spiritual leaders are to spread the Good News of the Gospel message.

“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you. Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.” Hebrews 13:17-18 (NIV)

Our leaders are vital to the growth of the Church, to the health of a church body, and to the transformation of culture.

The constant demands and pressures never go away for those called to spiritual and vocational leadership in the Church. As God’s people, we are called to obey, to honor, to bless, and to pray for our leaders. Let us not get caught up in our own personal preferences and ways of doing that we neglect lifting up our pastors and leaders in prayer. God has placed these spiritual leaders in our lives to guide us, teach us, care for us, challenge us, and encourage us. We need them more than we realize.

Shepherds have the responsibility to care for hundreds of sheep - it is a weight that can be heavy, but it is so rewarding.

There is no greater mission in this life than to bring lost sheep back home to the Father. Let’s be the kind of people who are a joy to shepherd so our pastors and leaders can lead us in the ways of the Lord with strength, wisdom, vision, hope, and perseverance. Let’s pray:

Father, I pray that you would watch over our pastors and leaders at My City Church. I pray you would protect them and their families in mind, body, and spirit. We thank you for giving us so many amazing pastors and leaders who are seeking you wholeheartedly. I pray they will always seek you first in all that they do so that they can lead us into paths of righteousness. Give them holy rest, peace of mind, joy in their hearts, passion for your mission, vision for tomorrow, and strength for today. May they always lean on you and not on their own strengths or talents. Encourage them today so they know they are so loved, valued, and appreciated for all they do to further your Kingdom and to take care of your people. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
