Day 4: My City Worship

Have you ever thought about why our worship leaders are called the “frontline”?

The two definitions of “frontline” are as follows: “the military line or part of an army that is closest to the enemy.” and “the most important or influential position in a debate or movement.” To be a worship leader means to deliberately put yourself in a position closest to the enemy and FIGHT with our worship as our weapon. And did you know that we are all called to live a life of worship? Today, I would like to pray for the My City worship team as well as the call on all of us to live a life of worship.

“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.” John 4:23-24 (NIV)

Reflecting on this verse, it is important to pray for protection and for pure hearts for our My City worship leaders.

To be a “true” worship leader means to worship from our spirit, not from our flesh. I pray for a new closeness to the Holy Spirit and a new level of discernment over our worship leaders. This mantle is not light, and as they continuously fight for us and sacrifice their time and energy on the frontline each weekend, we pray God’s mighty hand of protection over their marriages, relationships, personal lives, minds, and every single aspect of their lives. We pray for God to abundantly bless them and for heaven to break open over them! We pray for new levels of creativity to flow over them- for heaven to plant a new song within them to share with the world!

And for each one of us, our lives of worship may be in a classroom setting, a hospital, within our homes- whatever it looks like, we pray for our lives to fully express the love and truth of Jesus Christ.

I pray that the essence of who God created us to be would be revealed through our worship! I pray for our worship to be pleasing to the Father. And Lord, if anyone reading this is feeling lost in what their calling is, assure them that their path is set before you! Give them signs and opportunities to guide them closer to the high calling you have placed on their life. Whatever our worship looks like, may we be worshiping you all day long through how we live our lives and how we love others. Amen!
