Day 8: Salvations and Recommitments

Salvation and recommitment was the story of my life.

I grew up in a Catholic household, and when I was younger, I had a teacher and a priest say some pretty hurtful things to me that pushed me away from faith all together and caused church hurt. I think church hurt is something many have experienced, whether it’s in a church or just a negative encounter with christians all together.

Ever since I was a young boy, there has been a call of God on my life and there is a call of God on your life as well as your friends’ and family’s lives. Before you were even born, God knew every hair on your head. He knew the beginning from the end and committed himself to you by giving His only son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins. Jesus, who was perfect, laid his life down to take the sin and burden off of us.

One of the greatest scriptures that reflects this is John 14:6:

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.”

This verse took me awhile to figure out, and it may have taken you, your friends, or family a while as well. My word of encouragement to you is that you are not going through this alone. You have people in your life as  friends, mentors, and/or pastors that are there to partner alongside you. They not only have the ability to provide you with affirmation for making best decision you’ll ever make in your life, but they also help you live out the great commission. Our mission is to go and make disciples of all nations by baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus is our conduit.

Continue to lean on Jesus as the Scripture above reveals that through Him,  you will know the Father. Through Jesus you are set free from sin. Through Jesus you are able to deliver captives. Through Jesus you are able to perform miracles, and through Jesus, there is salvation.

My story didn’t stop at “my faith wore out.” It didn’t stop when people said I wouldn’t amount to anything. It didn’t stop when I decided to turn to things of this world rather than God. Once God has a hold of you, He doesn’t let go easily.

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
