Day 9: United States of America/ Government

By:
Pastor Adam
Deidel

The Founding Fathers of this great nation were clear: we are dependent on God for peace, safety, and justice.

It is by Him, and Him alone, that we have Godly leaders and Godly citizens, and that we could enjoy the blessing of living in one nation under God.

"I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness." 1 Timothy 2:1-2 (NIV)
"Righteousness exalts a nation, But sin is a disgrace to any people." Proverbs 14:34

Today, the United States of America stands at a crossroads. As our national culture becomes increasingly Godless and lawless, the more chaos increases:

  • The National Debt has mortgaged America’s future.
  • The Dollar loses its value as each additional dollar is printed.
  • Rule of Law has become an afterthought in Washington.
  • The world at large is armed with nuclear weaponry.
  • Communism, an attack on liberty, is growing rapidly.
  • The ‘Under God’ Nation is violently removing God from every school, park, and public building.
  • America aborts nearly 1 million babies per year.
  • Sexual sin of all types is not only common, but praised in mainstream media, schools, and in the courts.
  • And a pandemic that has been used to create fear and compliance in a country marked for its bravery and liberty.

What do we do? WE PRAY.

In Psalm 85, David begged for God’s mercy on Israel. Paul commanded us to pray for our government so we could live in godliness and dignity. If Israel was commanded to pray for those that enslaved them, how much more should we pray for God’s blessings on the United States of America, which provides her people Liberty?

But how?

Our very first president, George Washington, taught us how we should pray for our nation:

Almighty God, we make our earnest prayer that Thou wilt keep the United States in Thy holy protection, that thou wilt incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government; and entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another and for their fellow citizens of the United States of America at large. And finally that Thou wilt most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind which were the characteristics of The Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without whose example in these things we can never hope to be a happy nation. Grant our supplication, we beseech thee, through Jesus Christ Our Lord. AMEN!
