Don't Curse the Blessing

How many prayers are being answered through your trials?

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." James 1:2-4 (NIV)

In the last week of our sermon series: To Hell and Back, Pastor Tyler Kirkle walks us through the life of Peter (Matthew 4:18-20; 8:23-27; 14:22-23; John 21:2-17). God used the trials in Peter's life to build him into the strong leader and apostle we know him to be today. Many times, we curse the trials we're going through. But in the midst of it, God is trying to grow you, mature you, teach you, shape you, and transform you. God cares more about your soul than your happiness.

Trials build your faith

"Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, 'Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!' He replied, 'You of little faith, why are you so afraid?' Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, 'What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!'" Matthew 8:23-27 (NIV)

Trials build you

A faith that isn't tested is a faith that can't be trusted. When you have faith in who God is, you remember who you are in Christ. Do you know who you are in Christ? You are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37). But faith takes action. You have to take a step to be a conqueror. You have to stay the course. Sometimes you need to have a big storm to realize how big your God is.

"If God told you to sail, He will not let you fail." ~ Pastor Tyler Kirkle

Trials bring you back to Jesus

You will have trials in your life. Your trials will conquer you if you walk away from Jesus. As a Christian, you won't have an easy life, but you will have a victorious life. Just like Peter, don't give up. God is blessing you more than you know. Will you recognize the setbacks as a setup for God's greatest blessings in your life?

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28 (NIV)
