Do you want to know the amount of times I have broken down because I was NOT okay?
I can tell you, it was more times than I can count with my fingers. I think we can all agree that walking the life of a Christian is NOT easy. Many people ask, “well then why do you do it?” Those who don’t know God or have never experienced an encounter with God will never understand how incredible this life is! But the truth is that we love Jesus! Most people would look at us and think we’re lunatics for going through all the struggles and storms that we go through. We may look crazy, however, we know we've been saved from, and we know what the ending looks like. We know what is awaiting us after death and that death is not the end-- It is the beginning! A beginning full of eternal peace, happiness, joy, excitement... We couldn't imagine it if we tried!
"Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed." 1 Peter 4:12-13 ESV
We as Christians will suffer, and that doesn’t exclude us men.
Society today has men brainwashed, making them think that they can’t show their emotions. The Bible says that we have to set ourselves apart from the world, so we have to make it our mission to be more vulnerable and allow ourselves to feel. There will be many storms, ones that either God puts in our paths or ones caused by our own we choices. Regardless of how you get in the storm, one thing is for sure, God is right there with you. God is walking alongside you during what you might think is the end of you, but trust me friend, your breakthrough is just around the corner. Do not give up! God sees your perseverance and your determination. There is no growth if there is no pain.
Although society might say different, we are all human and we all feel, we are not robots. We as men will have our moments where we need to let everything out, vent, and cry. That is okay! God loves you, God hears you, God wants you to talk to Him, man.
“Lord, hear my prayer. Listen to my cry for help. Don’t turn away from me when I have troubles. Listen to me, and answer me quickly when I cry for help.” Psalms 102:1-2
Men, it is okay to be okay. It is okay to cry. It is okay to vent. It is okay to let it ALL out. My suggestion for you is to find yourself another man of God that you look up to or that look up to. We do NOT do this life alone. I can say from experience that joining a Men’s Group was probably the best decision I could’ve made. I have learned from attending groups that it is okay to NOT be okay. We as men of God and brothers are there to challenge each other and to also be that person we can go to cry or vent to when we need a bro. It is okay to cry and vent things out to men so they can then pray with us. There is extreme power in prayer, and yes praying over yourself is effective, but there is more power in numbers.
“To say it another way, if two of you on earth agree on anything you pray for, my Father in heaven will do what you ask. Yes, if two or three people are together believing in me, I am there with them.” Matthew 18:19-20
Not only is it not healthy to keep things bottled inside, but you feel so relieved after letting it all out.
Once you let it all out and can trust those certain people with what you’re dealing with, that is where the ball starts rolling and you see real change happening. You begin to see the life God intended for you to live to reveal itself.
Men, I challenge you today. If you feel discouraged or defeated in some area of your life, reach out to another man of God, someone in a higher leadership position with more wisdom, or even a counselor in some instances. There is no shame in this!
You never know, the person you reach out to might have gone through the same thing. They could be the person that can help you reach your breakthrough!
