Men’s Conference, where do I start?
To begin, my name is Daniel Crescitelli and I am a Men’s Group Coach here at My City Church. I lead a Men’s Weightlifting Group on Saturdays, a Group open to everyone on Mondays with my lovely wife, Tracy, and another phenomenal couple at our church, Tracy and Kitty Stromgren. If you do not know who I am, just look for the obnoxiously loud person always wearing either a Como Te (Lama) or FitFarm hat greeting you at the door before the 9am service as I also serve on the Next Steps/Connections team. By day I work at Charles Schwab as a Sr. Technology Risk Manager and by night I am a Masters Weightlifter.
Men’s Conference is a place where both your physical and spiritual man will be exercised.
It’s a place where you can find freedom from the chains of addiction, whether it’s fear, anger, pornography or substance abuse, and find a passion driven, purpose-filled life. It’s a place where masculinity will be unleashed through a series of tribal wars, as we call it, and where long lasting friendships will be forged.
This year will be no less.
I am blessed to be able to serve on this year's planning committee and I have got to tell you if you thought last year was insane, this year has been taken to a whole new level! From the battles, to the space for God to move and encounters with Christ, to lives being transformed and renewed-- the presence of God will be exponential throughout this years conference.
Men’s Conference is not only a life-changing experience, it’s a necessity. It’s something to be prioritized. Each and every year I go, I grow into being a better husband for my wife, Tracy, father for my kids, DC and Grace, and leader & steward of this life God has given me.
Last year at Men’s Conference, I didn’t know many people both at the church and in Omaha, as we were still new since moving from San Diego, CA a few years prior. I was put on a team where I knew maybe a handful of people and remained pessimistic as to what this conference would be like. On the contrary, it was more than I could ever have imagined.
Dare I be cliché, every Men’s Conference I have gone to has taken me deeper into my walk with God, both spiritually and mentally. God continues to amaze me at His goodness year after year through this annual event. Last year, I made life-long friends with Austin Croghan. Austin is now a man I consider my brother. The word says, “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” Our relationship post conference is one that emulates that. To speak to the genuine friendship it has developed into, my wife and I are part of him and his fiance, Abby’s, bridal party.
Sometimes you attend church and despite the multiple hello’s and greetings you still feel alone. At Men’s Conference you build lasting relationships strengthened around physical prowess and spiritual impartation.
Can I be transparent with you for a minute?
I went to Men’s Conference with an inordinate amount of pride. As I mentioned earlier, I didn’t know many people and many people didn’t know much about me. I wanted to show off my physical ability and masculinity as I knew there would be tribal wars and a lot of physical competition. Needless to say, God knows exactly what we need! The first event was deadlift and pushups in which I ended up tearing my chest. I thought to myself, “man what a disappointing Men’s Conference! Well, this is going to suck.”
I could not have been more wrong! In the 5 years of attending Men’s Conference, it was by far the most life-changing, spirit-filled experience of my life. Through being humbled and setting my pride aside, I found my calling. God had bigger plans for my life beyond anything I could have hoped for our imagined. It wasn’t to conquer tribal wars or be dominant in victory. It was to encounter Him at another level and make lasting friends that stick closer than a brother.
I have always left Men’s Conference with a renewed hunger for Christ, renewed love for my family, and that agape love which only a love from God can unravel. I find renewed strength and determination to be the best father to my kids and husband to my wife. I an inspired to lead with an reinvigorated passion, boldness and courage like never before. This is why I am so passionate about this ministry and the men of My City Church and the men of Omaha, NE!
I know how much this conference can do in a man’s life. I am living proof. I know for a fact you will come back changed; a better man on fire for Him. That is why I can’t stress it enough; Invite friends from other churches, invite family and friends from out of town, invite acquaintances. This season our theme is Chasing The One! What better way to chase the one, than to put a down payment on their Men’s Conference registration so that they can find freedom, find family and have a life-changing encounter with a God that is for them, that loves them and wants the best for them.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
