It’s that time of year!
My City Church is gearing up for our annual Stuff the Truck event! This is one of the most impactful service events we host every year for the city of Omaha. Read more below to learn how you can make a massive difference in families’ lives this Christmas season!
I LOVE MY CITY
“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’” Acts 20:35 (NIV)
1. When is this event?

This year’s Stuff the Truck event will be held on Saturday, December 17th from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at our My City HQ (4859 S 97th St, Omaha, NE 68127).
2. What is “Stuff the Truck?”
As a church, we are “stuffing the truck” by purchasing $25-$50 gifts for boys and girls ages 0-12 who come from low-income families or foster care homes. Last year, we were able to give 250 kids two awesome gifts each! And this year, we are DOUBLING the number of children we are going to serve! Which means we will need 1,000+ gifts to make 540 children’s Christmas one they will never forget!
3. How can I serve at this event?

You can sign up to serve using the Church Center app or by clicking HERE! There are multiple roles you can sign up for as well! You can hang out with the kids at our coloring station, assist older kids with Christmas-themed crafts, and/or play games with them while their parents shop! Another role you can register for is a “shopping attendant.” You will be responsible for helping parents find the best toy options for their kids based on their age, gender, and interests. Finally, you can serve as a “wrapping attendant.” This is where you assist parents in wrapping the toys they selected for their kids and help them take gifts to their car if they would like the assistance. All who are serving will receive lunch and will be provided a t-shirt to wear as they serve if they do not already have one. It is truly such a joy to serve – especially at this event!
4. I’m unable to serve that day – How else can I help?
We are still in need of 700+ gifts for all ages (especially our 9-12 age group), so you can still make a huge impact by purchasing gifts and bringing them to church this Sunday, December 11th, or bringing them to any of our Collection Sites until December 13th! To see where our Collection Sites are around the city of Omaha and what kinds of toys you should buy, you can go to our Stuff the Truck website! If you don’t have time to shop, you can donate by clicking HERE and/or you can shop on our Amazon Wish List HERE!
5. What will this event look like?

Those who are serving will arrive at 9:00 am to pray, receive instruction, and make final touches before families arrive. Families can come anytime between 10:00-2:00, but most people will come within the first couple of hours since most want to have first choice! They will check in at the front and receive their tickets that represent gifts for each child in their family. The lobby will feature photos with Santa, cookies, hot cocoa, and activities for the children as the parents shop! Once parents enter into the auditorium, they will be greeted by a shopping attendant to walk through the various tables filled with toys sorted by age and gender. Once the parent has chosen gifts for their kid/s, they can either put them in paper sacks to wrap later, or they can hand them over to our wrapping attendants to have them wrap the gifts for them. When the family is ready to leave, team My City will offer to help them take their gifts to their car. From the moment they come onto our property to the moment they drive off, it is our hope and prayer that every family will experience the love of Jesus through our generosity as the body of Christ.
