The Beauty of the Bible

There's so much more

Sometimes it is very hard to value something when you have plenty of it, or you don’t know its history. In America, we have plenty of Christian Bibles and great commentary books based on the Holy Bible. You can find the Bible in motels donated by the Gideon’s, and in most churches and bookstores. But do you know who inspired and wrote the Bible? What is in the Bible? Do you know how precious its wealth of knowledge is? I would like to share just a little bit with you about it, and hopefully through reading this blog, your eyes will be opened to its greatness.

The Holy Bible is the spoken Word of God by our Hebrew God named YAHWEH, who revealed himself in three persons making the One True God – The Father, The Son, and the Holy Spirit. Through the Holy Spirit of God, His message was given to mankind with a purpose.

“All Scripture is God- breathed useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

God’s Word was given to us by people He chose to deliver His message, and they were called oracles and prophets. These were at times people chosen by God who loved God, sought after God, and feared God so that they would deliver His Divine message.

“In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways.” Hebrews 1:1 (NIV)

God’s Word Flowing Through Time

These prophets were sometimes many years apart from each other as they delivered the written Word of God. And over time, the Word of God was compiled into a great historical loving message from God to us.

One of the many beautiful and intriguing parts about the Holy Bible is that it is made of 66 books and letters written by 40+ authors who were inspired by God over a long period of time. You probably heard about the Dead Sea Scrolls, for example. These prophets had a gap ranging from thousands of years to 5 years of difference between each book. Please see the chart below. What is amazing about this is that these prophets continued to write the book and letters through catastrophic changes in their lives. From being freed, to being a slaves in Ancient Egypt, from roaming the wilderness for 80 years, conquering nations as nomads, becoming a Nation, being besieged many times, conquered a couple of times, re-established a few times, and then finally left conquered by the Roman Empire. Through all these great changes, through all these different periods of time and through all these different authors who were inspired by God, the Narrative of the Holy Bible remained the same.

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV)

Why the Bible is Inspired by God

If the Holy Bible were to be purely created by man and not inspired by God, there would have been many different gods, goddesses, animal idols, and celestial stars of worship. There would also have been no consistency in morals, as humans on their own do not have a moral compass. Human morals that are not guided by God changes by necessity, feelings, and circumstances. But they never remain the same. Not only that, the Bible would have not lasted that long. Usually the conquering nations would have wiped their teachings and imposed their influence and beliefs. But like trying to sink a beach ball in water, God made his Word always resurface and remain under the different events in its history.

"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." (ESV)

There is much more I can write about the Holy Bible, but as you study it more and more, you will find many treasures of wealthy information, edification, and revelations from it. It will increase your faith and teach you about God, Jesus Christ, His Son, and His heart. You will know about your very Intelligent Creator and find your purpose. He is the only one that can make your life truly fulfilling and rich. No material possession on this earth can match the love and care of our Lord Jesus Christ.

"The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 (NIV)
