Truth is (and always has been) under attack.
Today, our lead, Pastor Eli Nelson, preached a timely, convicting message about truth to kick off our new series, "The Truth Project."
Truth is rarely exalted. Truth is often relative. “My truth” might not be “your truth.” But if truth is constantly changing, how can we stand on solid ground? How can we walk in confidence without feeling like the rules keep on changing and nothing can be trusted?
As Pastor Eli highlighted today, the world seems to face these problems when it comes to the truth:
We suppress truth.
We abandon God.
We claim false truth.
We claim to be like God.
God knew the struggles we would have with truth, which is exactly why He sent His Son to live among us here on earth.
Jesus’s main purpose was to testify to the truth.
“You say that I am a King. This is why I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears and listens carefully to My voice.” John 18:37 (AMP)
Now that we know that truth is under trial, and that Jesus came to defend truth, how do we navigate this constant battle here on earth?
How do we sift through all the noise and find the truth from God to stand on? The answers are in that thick book of small print resting on your nightstand. The Word of God. The voice of the Creator of the universe and the Defender of Truth.
“If you abide in My word [continually obeying my teachings and living in accordance with them, then] you are truly My disciples. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31-32 (AMP)
So dig in. Read and listen to the countless times in Scripture that Jesus highlights the truth to His people. Because nothing is more futile than trying to solve the world’s problems without the love and truth of God.
