'Tis the Season...For Sweets!

Get out those stretchy pants and oversized sweatshirts because it’s that time of the year!

Don’t worry about the scale – that’s what January 1st is for! A major part of the Christmas season is enjoying all of the yummy sweets that come with it. Whether you love chocolate, cookies, peppermint, or something more savory, there is something for everyone!

Here are our Top 5 Christmas Desserts for you to try this season:

White Chocolate EVERYTHING

One of the most popular trends of holiday treats is coating almost everything with white chocolate/almond bark. Whether that be white chocolate covered pretzel rods (with sprinkles!), crackers with peanut butter in the middle, peppermint bark, Oreo balls, or round pretzels with M&Ms in the middle, you can’t go wrong with white chocolate desserts! They look great and they’re super easy to make. Here are some pictures for inspiration!

Cinnamon Roll Christmas Tree

Everyone loves a good cinnamon roll, but this is a cute, festive twist on the classic treat! In my family, it is a tradition to have homemade cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, so this could be a great tradition to start in your own family, too!

Yule Log Cake

I honestly have never made this or have eaten this before, but it just screams CHRISTMAS not just because of the name, but also because of the history behind this classic dessert. Read more about it here!

Pumpkin Spice Bundt Cake

Is anyone still in the mood for pumpkin spice? My sister made this dessert for the first time this past Thanksgiving, and it has easily become one of our new favorites! Since this was a recipe given to us by a family friend, here are the details on how to make this scrumptious dessert!

Ingredients: 1 box spice cake, 1 can pumpkin, 1 bag cinnamon chips, 1 can cream cheese icing

Instructions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together all ingredients and bake for 30-35 min. Melt a can of cream cheese icing until pourable and drizzle over the top. Enjoy!

No Prep, No Bake, Ninjabread Man!

For those who don’t even want to think about baking ANOTHER THING, here’s a fun alternative for your kids (or for you – no judgement)! This is the one time it is okay to play with your food! So get creative, battle it out, and then enjoy a yummy treat in the process!

There are hundreds of different Christmas desserts you can make, but no matter what you decide to try this year, make it a memory.

All of the best holiday foods I enjoy year after year are because they are attached to an activity with family and friends. So whether you’re making cookies with your kids, eating cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning, or bringing the same dessert to your 6th Ugly Christmas Sweater party, make it fun and make it a memory that will last a lifetime.

From all of us here at My City Church, we wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas!
