What sport would you compete in if you were in the Olympics?

Romans 12:2 (NIV)
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

John 18:33-37 (NIV)

“Pilate then went back inside the palace, summoned Jesus and asked him, “Are you the king of the Jews?” “Is that your own idea,” Jesus asked, “or did others talk to you about me?” “Am I a Jew?” Pilate replied. “Your own people and chief priests handed you over to me. What is it you have done?” Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” “You are a king, then!” said Pilate.Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.”

Key Points

  • There is a trial going on right now. The court is in session. And what is on trial is The Truth!
  • A man thinks he is right until another side of the story has been presented. If I want to
convince you of something all I need to do is silence the opposition.
  • "A man convinced against his will, is of the same opinion still."
  • The severity of a lie is determined by the weight of truth it conceals. The lies you believe
that conceal the truth of who God is, are the most severe because it puts into question
the character, motives, and heart of God.
  • How do I know that what I believe is real? There are three questions you should consider with any presented truth:
    1) What do you mean by that?
    2) How do you come to that conclusion?
    3) Have you ever considered...?
  • Truth believed through a revelation given by others, is nothing more than a narrative. Until you live by a revelation of who Jesus is, you will always question the validity of what you believe.

  1. What lies have impacted your life?
  2. What beliefs about religion have you found to be lies on your spiritual journey? What truth led to the discovery?
  3. What opportunities or people has God placed on your heart to pour His truth into?
Split into groups of 3-4. Share what the Holy Spirit is speaking to you and pray with each other over those areas.
